Dr Smith believes in providing traditional family care for his patients, with a balanced approach to their physical, social and psychological problems, based on the best available guidance and evidence.
Over the years, he has been involved in a range of activities aimed at improving the quality of patient care.
As well as providing care for his own patients, he:–
- sits on advisory committee of the National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE). NICE decides the types of care that should be available to NHS patients nationally.
- supports research into improving the care that patients receive
- teaches and mentors medical students in his practice and at the University of Bristol (as Honorary Senior Lecturer)
